Cody Blomber

BIO:

I love the challenge of painting a portrait. To be close enough to the likeness yet still have a great oil painting. The spontaneity of a sitting is inspiring to me. Whatever I feel gets translated into a colorful and emotional portrait. Each of my portraits is what I like to call a portrait sketch. Taking around 2 to 3 hours. Yes quick, bold, and confident strokes are what it takes to make these wonderful portraits.

Eberhard Fetz

BIO:

My interest in collage stems from the rich associations evoked by juxtaposed images. Initially inspired by the works of Robert Rauschenberg, I first explored ways to combine photo images with cyanotype (or blueprint), which uses contact printing of enlarged Kodalith negatives on photosensitized paper. To work beyond the restrictions of the cyanotype technique I began processing digital images with Photoshop, which provides unlimited freedom to manipulate all parameters of the images. In 2004-5 I devoted a 10-month sabbatical at the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin to creating collage prints that represent brain function. Going beyond digital print collage, future work will explore multimedia techniques, combining structural representations of neural networks with projected videos representing the activity in those networks.

Eberhard Fetz is Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Washington.

Li-ting Hung

BIO:

Art for me is an expression of my senses. I feel most in touch with myself when I make art. Art is an exploration of both the visible, and the subconscious world that lies within.

A leaf becomes a symbol of birth or rebirth in my painting. A house cat is transformed into a day dreaming, adventuress blue cat which I try to capture in clay.

As a teacher, I am always surprised at the wonderful creativities of my student. My job is to nurture this creative energy, introduce them to new mediums and techniques and to encourage them to share their art with others. My favorite teacher once said, Artist share not only their vision, but their kindness. Art making after all can be as simple as a smile.

BIO:

I was born and raised in Seattle, oldest child of three in a happy family. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t keenly aware of the world around me--everything from the movement of the leaves in the trees, the sound of the birds, the color of the sky. I live in my senses and love to paint the landscape around me. I am happiest when I can be in the natural world, seeing, thinking, listening and drawing.

Chelsea Willett

BIO:

I currently live in Tacoma, Washington, working day jobs to support myself as an artist. My main passion is painting. I want to say it's almost a form of air for me. I strive to spend at least spend 4-8 hours a day on painting. I work part time at a law firm. I typically paint on canvas in oils. My smaller stuff is in acrylics and there are times when I want a painting done fast so I'll use acrylics. I have been painting more professionally for 8 years. I love painting murals and have had the opportunity to paint them in local businesses. I was a muralist for Trader Joe's for 5 years and most of my work for them happened in California, University Place, WA, and Federal Way. I dabble in graphic design, more of a fun change for me. I went to Los Angeles Figurative Art Academy and studied the human figure using charcoals. Eventually I plan to go back to art school to continue to refine my skills. Ultimately I want to paint full time but until then I am striving to just get out there and make connections.
